Manual for Casting Votes on Pyth Network Governance

Launching its permissionless mainnet in November 2023, the #PythNetwork enabled community-led decision-making through on-chain voting and paved the path for Pyth Governance.

The future of the Pyth ecosystem and protocol depends on your fresh viewpoint. To get voting power on the blockchain, you need to stake your PYTH on the official staking program. You have the power to influence the future of the Pyth Network through your voting rights.

The Significance of Participation in Pyth Governance

Governance is a vital foundation of the Pyth’s future development and ecosystem growth. Community-led governance can stimulate innovation, lock-in network security, and assist align the varied members of the Pyth Network stakeholder community.

Pyth Governance is anticipated to be accountable for helping determine:

The size, duration, and denomination of oracle fees.

On-chain payment mechanisms for data suppliers. The price feeds listed and the data providers supporting them. Your participation and votes are vital for decision-making on these matters.

Engaging with Pyth DAO Realms

Community members can interact with Pyth Governance through the Pyth DAO Realms platform. Here, you will find a collection of on-chain proposals, categorized by recency and status. The Realms interface helps users to easily search, filter, and sift through on-chain ideas.

You can select a proposal to see its information, live vote count, and current status. You may also browse and contribute in the discussion section.

The voting interface displays your voting status, the current results, and the proposal's voting conditions, such as type, duration, and quorum needed for passage.

Proposal Voting Process

An on-chain proposal will be offered for vote for a period of seven days starting at the beginning a new epoch (Thursday 00:00 UTC) and concluding the following Wednesday at 23:59 UTC.

Casting Your Vote

PYTH Token stakers will be able to participate in an a proposal once it enters the "Voting" phase. To start, browse to the Realms page for the Pyth DAO.

Connect your wallet with the button in the top-right corner

Connect your SPL (Solana) wallet. Find and click the "Connect Wallet" button. The pop-up will direct you through selecting your SPL wallet which has your staked PYTH Tokens

Next, select a proposal from the proposals list to view its details page. In this new page, you can cast your vote to favor (Yes) or reject the plan (No).

Results

At the end of the period, a passed proposal will be fully executed and implemented. Any on-chain actions in the implementation plan will execute automatically in this step.
